Parancsok és felkérések függő beszédben

Amikor parancsokat vagy felkéréseket akarunk függő beszéddé alakítani, a 'tell'-hez hasonló igéket egy 'to' mellékmondattal használunk: He told me to go away. A sablon ige + indirekt tárgy + to mellékmondat. Az indirekt tárgy az az ember, akihez beszélünk. Más igék, amelyeket arra használunk, hogy parancsokat vagy felkéréseket idézzünk: command, order, warn, ask, advise, invite, beg, teach és forbid.

Tárgyak kérése

Tárgyak kérése esetén az "asked for" + tárgy sablont használjuk.

Javaslatok

A javaslatokat általában úgy idézzük, hogy az insist, recommend, demand, request és a propose igéket használjuk, amelyeket egy 'that' mellékmondat követ. A 'that' és a 'should' opcionálisak ezekben a mellékmondatokban, amint az alábbi példák között az első kettő mutatja. Vedd figyelembe, hogy a suggest, recommend és a propose igéket egy gerundium követhet, annak érdekében, hogy az indirekt tárgyat (a javaslatot kapó illető) kiküszöböljük, és a javaslatot udvariasabbá tegyük. A gerundium ezen módon való használatát az alábbiak közül a negyedik és ötödik példákban illusztráljuk.
